Mr. Luciano has over twenty five years’ experience gained as a portfolio manager, equities analyst and accountant. Prior to founding VGI Partners in 2008, Mr. Luciano spent five years as an Executive Director and Investment Manager with Caledonia Investments in Sydney and has also held positions as a Portfolio Manager at Allianz Equity Management and an equities analyst at BNP Paribas (formerly Prudential-Bache Securities Australia).
Mr. Luciano commenced his career as an accountant with BDO Nelson Parkhill in 1993. Mr. Luciano graduated from the University of New South Wales, with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting & Finance and later completed a Master of Commerce, majoring in Advanced Finance. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Mr. Luciano has completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program and has been awarded the CFA Charter.
Mr Luciano is a Director of VGI Partners Global Investments Limited (VG1) and VGI Partners Asian Investments Limited (VG8).
Mr Poiner has approximately twelve years’ experience as an analyst. Prior to joining VGI Partners in 2009, Mr Poiner was an analyst with J.P. Morgan in the Investment Banking Group. Mr Poiner studied at the University of Queensland and graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Biomedical Science and a Master of Commerce (Dean’s Honour Roll) with a major in Finance. Mr Poiner has completed the CFA Program and has been awarded the CFA Charter.
Mr Howie has over nineteen years’ experience in investment management and banking, including building and growing wealth and retail platforms, distribution of financial products, customised investment solutions and business strategy design and execution.
Mr Howie has been an executive-level financial services leader at a number of public and private investment management and banking businesses across the wealth management sector in Asia Pacific.
Mr Howie was Managing Director at the Index Equity and Portfolio Analytics and Solutions divisions of BlackRock Investment Management in Hong Kong (2017-2020); Head of iShares division of BlackRock in Australia (2011-2018); and an experienced product executive at Macquarie Group in Australia and Hong Kong (2008-2011). Before that, Mr Howie founded a debt portfolio management platform where he led business growth and capital markets access and funding.
Mr Howie graduated from Macquarie University with a Master of Applied Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM).
Mr Jones has over thirty years’ experience in investment markets, the majority as a general partner in private equity firms, and prior to that in general management and management consulting. Mr Jones has been a board member of numerous private and public businesses, including a number in the wealth management sector. Mr Jones was a Managing Director at CHAMP Private Equity (2002-2011); Executive Director and Country Head of UBS Capital (1999-2002) and a Division Director at Macquarie Direct Investment (1994-1999). Mr Jones commenced his career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Co. in 1987. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Melbourne (First Class Honours) and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. In 2021 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the museums and galleries sector, and to the community. Mr Jones is Chair of the National Museum of Australia, a non-executive member of the investment committee of EMR Capital Pty Ltd, Chairman of DTS Capital Partners Pty Ltd and an adviser to Aviron Investment Management Pty Ltd.
Mr Jones is the Chairman of VGI Partners Global Investments Limited (VG1) and a Director of VGI Partners Asian Investments Limited (VG8).
Mr Philippe has over twenty years’ experience in accounting and financial management. Prior to joining VGI Partners in 2009, Mr Philippe worked as an accountant with Australia and New Zealand Banking Group in its Specialised Leasing and Asset Finance area, was a fund finance manager within Macquarie Capital Funds in Sydney and held a corporate reporting role within Merrill Lynch in London. Mr Philippe commenced his career with KPMG Sydney. Mr Philippe graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting. Mr Philippe is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Cameron has over fourteen years’ experience in investment management and professional services. Prior to joining VGI Partners in 2018, Mr Cameron worked at Pantheon Ventures and Aspect Capital in London after starting his career at KPMG in Sydney. Mr Cameron holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Laws from Wollongong University. Mr Cameron is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW.
Mr Cameron is also the Company Secretary of VGI Partners Global Investments Limited (ASX:VG1) and VGI Partners Asian Investments Limited (ASX:VG8).
Mr Newham has over twenty years’ experience in financial markets. Prior to joining VGI Partners in 2021, Mr Newham was Head of Wholesale and then Head of Research and Consultant Relations for Aberdeen Standard Investments. Before joining Aberdeen Standard Investments, Mr Newham worked for seven years at JANA Investment Advisers in the roles of Head of Retail Investments and then Principal of Business Development. Mr Newham holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Wollongong University and has completed the Certified Practising Accountant program.
Ms Groer has over twenty years’ experience in financial markets. Prior to joining VGI Partners in 2019, Ms Groer worked for Goldman Sachs / GSJBW in investment banking (2000-02) and equities research (2002-19). Within research, she advised clients on stocks that included banks, insurers and diversified financials, as well as industry trends in fintech and blockchain. Her final research role involved lead coverage of the Australian wealth management sector. Ms Groer graduated from the University of Sydney with the University Medal for Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance/Operations Research). Ms Groer has completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program and has been awarded the CFA Charter.
